Thanks to all filmmakers who participated in the Festival.  Apologies are due to the three winners, whose films were shown under bad technical conditions on the final night at the Barrow.  High winds that cut power to many homes in the area on the evening of September 14 caused a surge, and when the projector regained power, it was in a mode that did not do justice to the fine work being shown.  It is a tribute to that work that all the winning films were from among those shown after the equipment failure.   Even under less than ideal viewing conditions, they were still the audience favorites.

         Digital Film Competition:  Submit finished 10- to 30-minute digital films about western Pennsylvania or by western Pennsylvania filmmakers for a People's Choice cash award ($300, $200, $100)!  DVD format only.  Click here for film submission details.          
Deadline:  August 25, 2008. Mail entries to Venango Digital Film Festival, PO Box 1082, Franklin, PA 16323. Check for $25 payable to Venango Digital Film Festival must accompany submission.
Only films accompanied by self-addressed, stamped mailer will be returned.

        Script Competition:  Submit an original 10- minute screenplay, any genre, on the theme
Oil Boom Days in Western Pennsylvania, to coincide with 150th Anniversary of the discovery of oil. Two winning scripts will be produced by local crews at our expense; winning scriptwriters have the option to direct their own films (accommodations and meals provided)!  Click here for script submission details.
Deadline:  August 1, 2008.  Mail entries to Venango Digital Film Festival, PO Box 1082, Franklin, PA 16323.  Or submit electronically to thelatonia@verizon.net.  We are not set up to receive electronic payments at this time. Check for $25 payable to Venango Digital Film Festival must be received by the deadline for your submission to be considered.

         3-Day Speed Film Competition:   The top two screenplays will be filmed and edited by local film crews supported by experienced film professionals. The resulting films will be screened throughout the 2008-2009 Oil 150 celebration.* Completed films remain the property of the Venango Digital Film Association.

*  This is a change from the previously announced Run and Gun-style filming over the festival weekend.  Due to the withdrawal of committed technical support two weeks before the Film Festival, production of the winning screenplays will take place at a later date.  Inclusion in the Great Lakes Film Festival for 2008 will therefore not be possible because of the timing.  We apologize to all scriptwriters who submitted their screenplays with that expectation, and congratulate winning scriptwriters Michael Moon and Amy Dittman.
